How Bizzarre

Fri Jul 31, 2009, 8:04 PM
I wonder if my IP doesn't like dA. This is the first time in days that I've been able to post anything... much less actually look at my page.

... In other news, I'm on vacation. That's good, right?

Everything's Better with Chocolate

Sat Jun 6, 2009, 8:55 PM
You know what's better with chocolate? Everything.

(Although, I guess diabetes could be the exception to the rule.)

You know what's also good with everything? Bacon.

(There's even a recipe out there for bacon chocolate chip cookies. Really. [link] )

You know what's not good with everything? Cheese. Super delicious, but never on lo mein, I think. Peking duck, maybe.

That also goes for mayonnaise. Although I have heard of mayo margaritas. [link] It's all very strange, but just what you would expect from the Japanese, I think.

... Why am I rambling about food? (Probably because I'm hungry and I would really like some chocolate right now.)

No plugs 'cause I can't find them right now. (Too hungry?)

... Mayo-covered bacon chocolate cheesecake... I think I've just created the latest nightmarish craze.

Sweet Mayonnaise

Warning: This is a fangirling entry.

Let me go ahead and say this:

Yamada Shiro ( 山田シロ ) is amazing.

I know nothing about the chick (if, in fact, she is a chick. You never know, yeah?) Something tells me that she's one of those professional manga-ka that still moonlights as a doujinshi artist, but I don't feel like putting in the effort to research it too much.

I'm happy enough just drooling over the artwork.

I bought three Gintama fanbook anthologies last night, all three of which were GinxHiji only's. And, I swear, all three has at least one comic from Yamada-sensei. AND, she did the cover for all three of them.

Apparently, she's hot. At least when it comes to GinxHiji.

Oshiete! Yamada-sense~i, I lurv yuuuuuu! /fangirling

Maybe I'll get to see her at Super Comic City or at Monochrome, both of which are next month. Maybe not, but you never know.

Here is the Amazon page to one of the anthologies: [link]

I really do like her detailed style...

Inactive, and yet Popular?

Fri Apr 17, 2009, 5:24 AM
You know what I find a bit bizarre? My quiet, empty, very old and very inactive first account has viewers.

People actually click to watch it.

This I do not understand.

I first signed up with dA because a girlfriend was posting her artwork here. (She's no longer active and I have never interacted with her, not with my first alias, and certainly never as 'babygray'. Considering that we had a major falling out long before I came back to dA, I guess that's a good thing.) Soon after, I forgot all about my account, and when I decided to join for myself (and for my less-than-stellar doodling), I had forgotten all the details about it, like name.

It was a bit embarrassing.

I know it now, of course, and maybe, just maybe, I'll figure out a way to put that username to good use.

But, since there's nothing there, still...

In other news: Work is really hard this year. Two-hour-plus daily commutes are such a grand, magnificent pain. The students seem okay, though. They don't make up for all the time I lose in the car (and sleeping, 'cause I don't want to be too utterly exhausted by Friday), but they do try.

... I'm also really reluctant to do anything else but keep it nice and inactive, so yeah...

Beans of Knowledge

Wed Jan 21, 2009, 1:37 AM
Last weekend, I went on a litte shopping trip. I intended to buy a momokoDoll... but instead, I bought a few Mame Shiba goods.

Do you know Mame Shiba? [link] I don't know much about it myself (only started researching it today :p), but I can say it is quite a cute (and maybe horrifying) concept.

The commercials themselves are pretty similar. A person starts eating, only to be interrupted by a talking bean dog, which then goes on to tell the person an interesting kernel of knowledge. The person, understandably enough, is spooked by the experience, and the knowledge that hippo sweat is pink, among other things.

I think my favorite mame shiba is the peanut one, who informs a man currently on a date that, in one second of kissing, 2 hundred million germs are shared back and forth.

Even if you don't know Japanese, maybe you will enjoy them. The music is eerie, and the beans are simply adorable.

I wouldn't want to find one in my salad, however.

... And then they have the audacity to giggle after ruining these people's lives (and appetites) with their oddly appropriate bits of knowledge...
